May 5. More caulking and priming today, as there was
more trim added, and the heater is ready to be installed. As soon
as we can catch up with the plumber and the inspector, we will be
ready to finish the inside.
May 6. Hal and Joe spent the day laying the plastic
moisture barrier under the house. It is the time when all the little
details are done.
May 8. Finished up with the moisture barrier, and
more of those details.
May 15. Put the heater in and started putting up the
ducts today. The next step is to install the plumbing.
May 22. Work is starting to pick up after the delays
and weather troubles. We started to put the plumbing in today, and
finished up the drain vents.
May 26. Started the pressure lines on the plumbing.
Spent the day cutting and fitting the copper pipe in preparation
for soldering.
June 5.Today was the annual Pony Express Days parade
in McKinleyville, so most of the workers were at the parade and
other festivities. The small crew that did show up were able to
get the plumbing soldered, most of the heater ducts and the water
heater installed.
June 10. Finished the heater ducts, and started painting
the outside of the house.
June 13. Small crew today. Tom was here with his tractor,
and started clearing away the dirt pile in front of the house which
has become a ramp for the local bicycle riders. Also, most of the
drain vents were run through the roof, and most of the plumbing
was completed.
June 16. The plumbing was all but finished, almost
ready to be pressure tested, and the trim was completed on the porch
area.
June 19. Installed the gas lines and phone lines,
and worked on finishing the electrical.
June 23. Tested the water lines, and continued painting
the outside of the house. We also had the framing inspection, and
have been cleared to start installing the insulation.
June 26. Finished the plumbing, and continued on the
gas lines. Next week: Insulation!
July 3. Have finished the electrical and plumbing
well enough to start the insulation, and everything is looking up!
We are looking forward to starting the drywall, as the house will
really start to come together.
July 7. Finished the insulation on the walls, and
started on the ceiling. The gas lines are in and pressure tested.
July 8. Joe and Julie went to the house and painted
some more on the outside walls. Won't be long now, and they will
be able to move in! Ross is planning to install and hook-up the
electrical box on Saturday.
July 10. Ross hooked up the wiring to the breaker
box and service entrance, ready for power. The insulation was finished
on the walls, and the porch vents for the were installed.
July 14. More insulation work today.
July 15. Joe and Julie went to the house, and while
Joe did more insulation work, Julie painted.
July 17. The crew installed more insulation in the
attic area as well as installing the vents through the roof.
July 21. Finished insulating the walls, and insulated
the bathrooms for sound deadening, and started under the house with
insulation on the floors.
July 24. Finished insulating the floors today.
July 28. Had the insulation inspection today, and
have been cleared to start the dry wall. Also painted some more.
The excitement is starting to build!
July 31. Finished up some more of those "details"
that are so important, like making sure that all is correct and
proper before the sheet rock is put up.
Aug. 4. Cleaning today, to make it easier to install
the sheet rock. Also painted more on the outside walls.
Aug 7. No work on the house today. The crew worked
on a much-needed remodel on the Habitat office, and it looks great!
We also had the last of the yard sales at the site, and it also
was a success. As soon as the house is empty, we can start pulling
it down and clearing the site.
Aug. 11. Raining today. Since we are not yet ready
to start the sheetrock, and the rain kept us from painting we could
do nothing but watch.
Aug. 15. No crew today, so only some painting on the
eaves was completed today. Still waiting for the sheetrock.
Aug. 18. Finished painting on the east and north sides
of the house today, and almost finished the west side. The sheetrock
should be delivered on Saturday.
Aug. 21. Finished painting the outside of the house.
Also cleaned up the lot a bit, and the drywall was delivered today.
Next thing is sheet rocking the inside.
Sept 9. Started the sheet rocking, and it looks great.
We hung the ceiling in the living/dining room, and the front bedroom
as well as part of the wall in the kitchen and entrance areas.
Sept 29. Almost finished with the sheetrock. It almost
looks good enough to move into. Soon we will be calling for an inspection
and installing the flooring and cabinetry.
Oct 22. Started mud and tape. Should be texturing
next week.
Nov 11. Textured the walls today. Will be ready to
start painting on Saturday.
Dec 1. We have been very busy priming and painting
the walls. Joe and Julie have spent the last three weeks on it,
but it is now ready for the cabinets.
